Buko Juice

Posted on | May 4, 2010 | No Comments

Buko juice is known to cleanse the body at the same time called as the miracle water or water of life. Buko juice, or known world wide as Coconut water, is almost always associated with cool breeze and a refreshing scene, mainly because it is, by nature, a refreshing drink, cold or not. But do you know that Coconut water or Buko juice has medicinal properties too?

Most people suffering from Kidney trouble are often advised to drink lots of Coconut water to relieve them of discomfort and pain brought about by their complicated ailment. And some go out of their way to visit the beach more often, while drinking this gift from nature.

If you can not afford such luxury, then all you can do is buy from the Buko vendors and enjoy the treat at home. For my family, we usually buy from our suki. So the Buko Manong goes by the house twice a week and we would buy 5-6  young coconuts. But that was before he stopped peddling around our village. Now, we wonder where he may be. Buying downtown or at the market is so much taxing as they are heavy. So when we need Buko shreds for Buko salad, my brother is the one who goes to buy them, already shredded and the juice is brought home placed in the container my mother sent for him to bring. Of course, we’d put the juice in the fridge to cool, and when it is ready, we’d drink the refreshing cold Buko juice. While outside the house, Buko juice are available in cups and they are sold at P 10.00 at most.
